The Zellhoefer family farm, Brachbach 7.
1696 to Hanss Zellhoefer via marriage to widow Landshuter.  note familiar surnames of other owners!
photos by Manfred Hertlein - via eMail 10 May 2003

Brachbach in 2003 remains a tiny hamlet of maybe a dozen people and a few farms.  There at Brachbach No.7 is the farm owned by Zellhoefer's for about 150 years beginning in 1696.

Might be a tiny hamlet, but Mani snapped 2 sign-pics!   <s>!

This picture was identified only as "Brachbach".   Might it be that behind the fence is another view of the same farmhouse shown below?
This photo on an old postcare shows the Brachbach7 farm home sometime after 1856 and before 1900, showing the Eberlein family which owned the farm at that time.
Zfarm2803.JPG (122629 bytes) This photo taken in 2003 is clearly the same house, showing some major renovations, and a bit more "citified".  Today one can drop in and buy a stein of Germany's good beer.  I need to ask Mani if it is now a Gasthaus?

I've no doubt the this is the very same home as the one above, just 100+ years later!

Zfarm2805.JPG (124756 bytes) This looks like an old barn?  Maybe it was actually the farmhouse back in 1696?  If so, the house above might be newer?  In the GGZ autobbiography the old home was described as a "rambling rock house".
Zfarm2806.JPG (150720 bytes) Now both buildings....
Zfarm2807.JPG (165648 bytes) Another scene, but I haven't quite figured out just what we're seeing here - looks like house and barn from the other side?
Zfarm2804.JPG (157640 bytes) This looks like the barn from another viewpoint.
