This was Charles first marriage; they were Catholic. Per source Dennis Laubenstein they did not know each other before Door County, where they soon met and married.

Charles next married Walburga (Flora) Zellhofer-[248] [MRIN: 89], daughter of Franz Zellhofer II-[28] and Theresa Wimmer-[251], on 24 Nov 1897 in Door County WI.2 (Walburga (Flora) Zellhofer-[248] was born on 14 Feb 1876 in Kleinpertholz, Martinsberg, Zwettl, died on 14 Nov 1957 in Sturgeon Bay WI and was buried in St Peter & Paul, Institute, WI.)
