All info from Margaret from Zilhaver Family Records in poss of Thelma Zilhaver Wellmon-141, 1976. Also, knowledge of Cindy Adamz-13, 1989. Bir date calc (50 yrs, 3 mo, 6 days on tombstone listing dea date as 28 Dec 1859).
Noted events:
• Immigration: from Germany, Abt 1835, USA.
• Alt. Birth: see note, 1809, New York State. 5 per Family Search Ancestral file she was born abt 1826 in PA, which is wrong.
1850 census she is listed as being born in NY, age 41 which would make her born 1808/09 and most likely born 1809 because the census data was two days past the birthdate chosen for her.
Margaret married Johann Jacob Zellhoefer-[197] [MRIN: 375], son of Johann Joseph Zellhoefer-[9] and Anna Margaretha Hofmann-[1679], about 1842 in New York State.1 (Johann Jacob Zellhoefer-[197] was born on 29 Mar 1806 in Buchheim, NEA,6 died on 27 Dec 1886 in Rockdale Twp Crawford PA 6 and was buried in Lutheran Cemetery, Drakes Mills, Crawford, PA 2 6.)
Marriage Notes:
Possibly they were married in Germany before migrating to New York, but that would make the marriage earlier and no children are known until 1843... They didn't have birth control in those days and it usually didn't take long for that first child to appear!
